School Infrastructure Support
Across many rural and underserved parts of India, inadequate school infrastructure remains one of the biggest barriers to quality education. Leaky roofs, lack of toilets, broken benches, and unsafe classrooms lead to absenteeism, especially among girls. Damooga Foundation’s School Infrastructure Support program focuses on bridging this gap by improving the physical environment in which children learn.
The Foundation identifies government and low-income schools that require immediate infrastructure upgrades and collaborates with local stakeholders, panchayats, and volunteers to plan and execute the improvements. This includes building classrooms, repairing existing structures, installing gender-sensitive toilets, providing desks, blackboards, and water filters.
Beyond construction, Damooga ensures community ownership by involving parent-teacher associations and school management committees. The idea is to build spaces that are not just safe but also inspiring for children. Improved infrastructure is directly linked to improved learning outcomes and better school retention rates.
In the long run, these efforts don’t just build schools — they build futures.
